You’ll be raised together with those you follow in this life!

Collected by Trying To Follow The Salaf

Be aware of who you follow in this life, because you’ll be raised together with them in the next! This is our research regarding the statement of Allah in the Qur’an,

يَوۡمَ نَدۡعُواْ ڪُلَّ أُنَاسِۭ بِإِمَـٰمِهِمۡ‌ۖ

“(And remember) the Day when We shall call together all human beings with their (respective) Imam…” [Surah Israa: 71]

Here are some of the interpretations of the word “Imaam” according to the Mufassiroon:

1.Mujaahid and Qataada said this meant by their Prophet [Tabari]

2.al-Hasan, Abu ‘Aaliyah said this meant their deeds (due to the context of the ayah) [Bhaghawi]

3.ad-Dahhaak and others said this meant their book of deeds [Ibn Kathir]

Look at this fourth interpretation…

4.Sa’eed bin Jubayr on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbas that he said what is meant here is the leader of each person’s era who called them in this dunya to either misguidance or guidance.

Allah said in Surah Qasas: 41

“And We made them leaders inviting to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection, they will not be helped.” [Bhagawi]

Sa’eed ibn Musayyib said,

“Every nation will gather towards their leader…” [Bhagawi]

Subhanallah, pay attention to those speakers you follow in this life. Those speakers you love listening to. Make sure you investigate them and their understanding. DO NOT become lazy in this affair, because you’ll be gathered with them on the Day of Judgement.
