How will the limbs testify against us on the Day of Judgement?
Answered by the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia Abdul-Aziz ibn Abdillah Ala Shaykh May Allah preserve him
Question: How will the limbs testify against the slave on the Day of Judgement?
Answer: Allah says in two places in the Quran:
1. He said in Surah an-Nur: 24,
“On the Day when their tongues, their hands, and their legs (or feet) will bear witness against them as to what they used to do.”
2. And He said is Surah Fussilaat: 19-22,
“And (remember) the Day that the enemies of Allâh will be gathered to the Fire, then they will be driven [(to the fire), former ones being withheld till their later ones will join them].
Till, when they reach it (Hell-fire), their hearing (ears) and their eyes, and their skins will testify against them as to what they used to do.
And they will say to their skins, ‘Why do you testify against us?’ They will say: ‘Allâh has caused us to speak,’ — He causes all things to speak, and He created you the first time, and to Him you are made to return.’
And you have not been hiding yourselves (in the world), lest your ears, and your eyes, and your skins should testify against you, but you thought that Allâh knew not much of what you were doing.”
On the Day of Judgment the justice of Allah will be made apparent between every living thing. When the slave will try to deny what was recorded in the book Allah will make the limbs speak. They will testify against their companion for every deed they did. They will be an established proof against the slave. For this no one will enter the Day of Judgement except that the first thing they see is the fire. They will see the complete justice of Allah to His slaves and that He will make apparent an atom’s worth of deeds.
