In the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful

Is it permissible to take wages for teaching Quran?

Answered by the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia Abdul-Aziz ibn Abdillah Ala Shaykh May Allah preserve him

Question: Is the one who teaches the noble Quran to children and takes wages from them excluded from the statement of the Messenger (peace be upon him), “The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teaches it”?

Answer: He is not excluded from it. Rather the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “You are most entitled to take wages for doing a Ruqya with Allah’s Book.” (collected by al-Bukhaari narrated by Ibn ‘Abbas)
