Synonyms of the statement Laa ilaha ill Allah

By Shaykh Muhammad ibn Sa’eed Raslaan may Allah preserve him

The shaykh mentions in his book entitled “Laa ilaha ill Allah: it’s meaning, conditions, nullifiers, and virtues” some synonyms for the foundation of our religion. He says:

Laa ilaha ill Allah is also known as…

1. A Word of Sincerity اخلاص

It is negating ascribing partners in worship with Allah and affirming that all types of worship should be ascribed to Allah alone.

2. A Word of Piety كلمة التقوى

إِذۡ جَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلۡحَمِيَّةَ حَمِيَّةَ ٱلۡجَـٰهِلِيَّةِ فَأَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ سَڪِينَتَهُ ۥ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ وَعَلَى ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَأَلۡزَمَهُمۡ ڪَلِمَةَ ٱلتَّقۡوَىٰ وَكَانُوٓاْ أَحَقَّ بِہَا وَأَهۡلَهَا‌ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىۡءٍ عَلِيمً۬ا (٢٦)

“…then Allâh sent down His Sakinah (calmness and tranquility) upon His Messenger and upon the believers, and made them stick to the WORD OF PIETY (i.e. none has the right to be worshiped but Allâh), and they were well entitled to it and worthy of it. And Allâh is the All-Knower of everything” (48:26)

3. A Trustworthy Handhold العروة الوثقى

قَد تَّبَيَّنَ ٱلرُّشۡدُ مِنَ ٱلۡغَىِّ‌ۚ فَمَن يَكۡفُرۡ بِٱلطَّـٰغُوتِ وَيُؤۡمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدِ ٱسۡتَمۡسَكَ بِٱلۡعُرۡوَةِ ٱلۡوُثۡقَىٰ لَا ٱنفِصَامَ لَهَا‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ (٢٥٦)

“…Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Tâghût (false deities) and believes in Allâh, then he has grasped the most TRUSTWORTHY HANDHOLD that will never break. And Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower.”(2:256)

4. A Covenant عهد

لَّا يَمۡلِكُونَ ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةَ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ عِندَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ عَهۡدً۬ا (٨٧)

“None will have [power of] intercession except he who had taken from the Most Merciful A COVENANT.” (19:87)

5. A Good Deed حسنة

مَن جَآءَ بِٱلۡحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُ ۥ خَيۡرٌ۬ مِّنۡہَا وَهُم مِّن فَزَعٍ۬ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ ءَامِنُونَ (٨٩)

“Whoever brings a GOOD DEED (i.e. Belief in the Oneness of Allâh along with every deed of righteousness), will have better than its worth, and they will be safe from the terror on that Day.” (27:89)

 6.A Word of Truth كلمة الحق

وَلَا يَمۡلِكُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةَ إِلَّا مَن شَہِدَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُونَ (٨٦)

“And those whom they invoke instead of Him have no power of intercession — except for those who bear witness to the TRUTH knowingly (i.e. believed in the Oneness of Allâh, and obeyed His Orders), and they know (the facts about the Oneness of Allâh)” (43:86)

7. The Highest Description المثل الاعلى

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يَبۡدَؤُاْ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُ ۥ وَهُوَ أَهۡوَنُ عَلَيۡهِ‌ۚ وَلَهُ ٱلۡمَثَلُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ‌ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ ٢٧)

“And He it is Who originates the creation, then will repeat it (after it has been perished), and this is easier for Him. His is the HIGHEST DESCRIPTION (i.e. none has the right to be worshipped but He, and there is nothing comparable unto Him) in the heavens and in the earth. And He is the All¬Mighty, the All¬Wise.” (30:27)

8. Al-Husna الحسنى

فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أَعۡطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ (٥) وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ (٦) فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ ۥ لِلۡيُسۡرَىٰ (٧)

“As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allâh and fears Him, and believes in AL-HUSNA (laa ilaha ill Allah). We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness).” (92:5-7)

9. A Firm Statement القول الثابت

يُثَبِّتُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ ٱلثَّابِتِ فِى ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَفِى ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ‌ۖ وَيُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ‌ۚ وَيَفۡعَلُ ٱللَّهُ مَا يَشَآءُ (٢٧)

” Allah will keep firm those who believe, with the word that stands firm in this world (i.e. they will keep on worshiping Allah Alone and none else), and in the Hereafter…” (14:27)
