Imaam Abu Abdillah Ahmad ibn Hanbal 241 AH (May Allah have mercy on him) said:

الناس محتاجون إلى العلم قبل الخبز والماء لأن العلم يحتاج إليه الإنسان في كل ساعة والخبز والماء في اليوم مرة أو مرتين

[الإمام أحمد بن حنبل].

“The people are in more need of knowledge than bread or water, because knowledge is needed every hour. While bread and water is (is needed) once or twice a day.”
