The Qur’an was revealed for three affairs -Shaykh ibn al-’Uthaymeen

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful

The Qur’an was revealed for three affairs

By Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-’Uthaymeen may Allah have mercy on him

The shaykh mentioned this point of benefit in his explanation of Ibn Taymeeyah’s “Muqaddamatul Tafseer”, and he said:

The Noble Qur’an was revealed for three affairs:

1. Worship through reciting it

2. Understanding the meaning

3. Acting on it

This is why the companions, may Allah be pleased with them all, would not exceed ten verses until they learned them, and what necessitated from knowledge and action. They would say:

‘We learned the Qur’an, knowledge, and action altogether’
