In the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful
The status of the knowledgeable believer over others
By al-Haafidh ibn Hajar Asqalaani may Allah have mercy on him
The Imaam, who died 852 AH, mentions in his book “Fathul Baari: 1/141” this point of benefit. He writes:
“Allah says in Suratul Mujaadilah: 11,
يَرۡفَعِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنكُمۡ وَٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡعِلۡمَ دَرَجَـٰتٍ۬
‘Allâh will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge.’
Allah raises the knowledgeable believer above the believer who does not possess knowledge. Being raised in degrees shows the superiority (of having knowledge) since there is enormous reward in it, and because of that they will attain higher levels. Their superiority includes having a high status and good reputation in the worldly life and in the hereafter they will have a lofty status in paradise.”
