Wahb ibn Munabbih 110 AH (may Allah have mercy on him) said,

مَنْ أُصِيبَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنَ الْبَلَاءِ ، فَقَدْ سُلِكَ بِهِ طَرِيقُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ عَلَيْهِمُ الصَّلَاةُ وَ السَّلَامُ

“Whoever is afflicted with a trial then indeed they are following the path of the Prophets alayhim as-Salaah was-Salaam.”
