Reasons to help attain a good ending and firmness in knowledge

by Shaykh Saalih bin Fawzaan al-Fawzaan may Allah preserve him 

Question: What are the causes in attaining a good ending [husnul khaatima], and also the causes in attaining firmness in seeking knowledge?

Answer:  The first [cause] is to make supplication; make plenty of supplications in order to attain a good ending [and firmness in seeking knowledge]. Many people ask this question about attaining a good ending.

The second [cause] is to ask Allah for obedience in preserving the obligations and in avoiding His prohibitions.

The third [cause] is to not fear anything from [Allah’s] dominion. and to always [have] a desire for [a good ending] at every moment and hour. This will lead to being upright and [developing] self-control.

You do not know when you are going to die. Make all of your moments moments of obedience, worship, and uprightness. However, if you fall into sins then repent back to Allah and do not deem [these sins] as something small.
