In the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful
Can you cool yourself down while fasting in Ramadan?
By Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-’Uthaymeen may Allah have mercy on him
Question: What is the ruling of cooling oneself down while fasting?
Answer: Cooling oneself down while fasting is permissible and there is no problem with it. While fasting the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, would pour water over his head due to the heat and his thirst. Also, Ibn ‘Umar would drench his clothing with water while he was fasting due to the severe heat and thirst. And the moisture [from the water] does not affect the fast because the water does not reach the stomach.
