Does wet dreams break the fast/Advice for the one who sleeps all day in Ramadan
By Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-’Uthaymeen may Allah have mercy on him
Question: If a person is fasting and has a wet dream, is his fast correct?
Answer: Yes, his fast is correct. Wet dreams do not invalidate fasting because it is done involuntary. And the pen is lifted [a person is not held accountable] in the state of sleep.
And I wanted to take this opportunity to warn of an action many people do in these times. That is [you find] many people who remain awake during the nights of Ramadan spending their time with things of no benefit or with things that harm them, and then when the day comes they spend most of it sleeping. This is not correct, rather what is required from the people is to make their fasting as a time to perform acts of worship, remembering Allah, reciting Qur’an, and other acts of worship that will bring them closer to Allah tabaarak wa ta’aala.
