Hasan al-Basree 110 AH (may Allah have mercy on him) said once to a people who were disputing:

هؤلاء قوم ملوا العبادة و خف عليكم القول, و قل ورعهم فتكلموا

“These ones have become tired of worship, speaking has become easy for them, and their piety has diminished, and that is why they talk.”
