Pondering over three things that will lead to belief in the Day of Judgement

By Shaykh Abdul-Muhsin al-Abbaad al-Badr May Allah preserve him

These are my notes mentioned by Shaykh Abdul-Muhsin in his book “Qatful Janaa ad-Daani” which is an explanation of Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qaywaraani’s introduction on ‘Aqeedah.

1. Mankind was created once before. Allah says,

“O mankind! If you are in doubt about the Resurrection, then verily We have created you from dust, then from a Nutfah (mixed drops of male and female discharge), then from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), then from a little lump of flesh – some formed and some unformed (as in the case of miscarriage), that We may make (the Day of Resurrection) clear to you (i.e to show you Our Power and Ability to do what We will).” [Surah Hajj: 5]

2. To look at how the earth is given life after it dies. During the Spring and Summer we see that the earth is filled with life and different plants. Once Fall and Winter comes these plants die, and when Spring arrives again the earth is given back its life. Just like this we will be resurrected. Allah says,

“He brings out the living from the dead, and brings out the dead from the living. And He revives the earth after its death. And thus shall you be brought out (resurrected).” [Surah Rum: 19]

3. To look at the creation of the skies and earth and to know that it is a greater creation than mankind. Allah says,

“The creation of the heavens and the earth is indeed greater than the creation of mankind, yet most of mankind know not.” [Surah Ghafir: 57]

These notes were compiled and translated by Abu Awzaa’ee AbdusSalaam
